2024 Design Trend: Peachy Keen

Pantone Marks the 25th Anniversary of Their “Color of the Year” Program with a Warm, Nurturing Hue

Since 1999, experts at the Pantone Color Institute™ have engaged color enthusiasts around the globe by selecting a single hue to represent the current relationship between culture and color each year. Marking the 25th anniversary of their iconic program, last month they named “Peach Fuzz” (PANTONE 13-1023) as Color of the Year for 2024.

According to the institute’s Executive Director, Leatrice Eiseman, Peach Fuzz captures our desire to nurture ourselves as well as others:

“In seeking a hue that echoes our innate yearning for closeness and connection, we chose a color radiant with warmth and modern elegance. A shade that resonates with compassion, offers a tactile embrace, and effortlessly bridges the youthful with the timeless.”

So what exactly does this annual announcement mean for the world of architecture and interior design?

As one of the most influential tastemakers in color, Pantone’s Color of the Year inspires designers, brand leaders, and consumers in nearly every industry around the world — from fashion, to cosmetics, industrial design, product packaging, media, and of course — furniture and home furnishings.

Incorporating Peach into Your Home Decor

A delicate, soothing color that exudes warmth and tranquility, peach is emerging as a prominent choice in home decor. With its soft and subtle nature, this color creates a living environment that is both visually appealing and emotionally comforting. The color peach is also somewhat of a chameleon — evoking feelings of freshness and vitality, while simultaneously delivering a sense of harmony and serenity to any space. It’s both young and mature. Playful and sophisticated.

Besides its ringing Pantone endorsement for the coming year, one of the main reasons to consider incorporating the color peach into your home is its versatility. A timeless choice for almost any interior decor style, peach sings in modern, minimalist spaces, or in more traditional and vintage inspired homes alike. A nature-inspired pastel, peach compliments a wide range of other colors such as purples, blues, greens, pinks, and yellows. This color also suits a wide variety of other materials such as dark and light woods, natural stones and marbles, leathers, and both warm or cool metallics.

In addition to its aesthetic qualities, peach also has psychological benefits that can make it an excellent choice for your home decor. The color is associated with feelings of warmth, joy, and tenderness, creating a welcoming and comforting environment. Peach can stimulate positive emotions, encourage social interaction, and foster a sense of well-being among occupants. Even just a touch of peach can have a positive effect on your overall mood and outlook!

For a greater impact, consider painting an entire room in your home one of these six peachy picks from some of our favorite names in paint:

These colors would work especially well in southern-facing rooms with an abundance of warm sunlight. For something a bit more restrained, try introducing a few peach colored accents like throw pillows, curtains, or artwork throughout your home.

Our Favorite Peach Colored Decor for 2024

While we don’t often preach following interior design trends as the gospel (instead encouraging our clients to make purchase decisions based on what they truly love), we are certainly loyal fans of color! As we head into what’s likely to be a typical gray Pittsburgh winter, we thought it would be fun to start the New Year with a round-up of some of our favorite “peachy keen” home decor finds.
